The Halcyon is located approximately five kilometres from Galle's city centre. It is within easy reach of the UNESCO World Heritage Galle Fort and a 10 minute drive away from the glorious beaches of the south coast. The Halcyon's simple elegance invites you to enjoy its colonial, Dutch style architecture with its gabled roof top adorned with charming clay tiles. The irresistibly relaxing interior has an antique finish with white-washed wooden ceilings, complete with antique furniture and a cooling polished cement floor for your comfort.





The backyard at your fingertips is a lush, tropical tree-filled garden overlooking vibrant paddy fields where you are free to wander and discover the abundance of fauna and flora. Waiting to be discovered are; mango, papaya, banana, pineapple, star fruit, ceylon olive, jackfruit and passionfruit all at your disposal.





Marvel at our playful purple faced langur (black monkeys) swinging amongst the tree-tops, while spying the mongoose, porcupines, land and water monitor lizards, peacocks and our beautiful array of tropical birds being a common sight on the Halcyon premises.




This colonial villa provides the perfect setting as the most welcoming retreat which is luxurious, yet informal. The Halcyon is the ideal location for friends and family get-togethers, birthday parties, high tea or any special event that calls for a small gathering. The entire 4 bedroom house can be rented as a private villa or the rooms can be booked on an individual basis.

The spacious rooms, decorated in a modern colonial style invite guests in to immaculately sparkling and comfortable rooms, making it easy to relax in this home away from home. Dining at Halcyon



The Halcyon’s scrumptious cuisine is a fusion of traditional Sri Lankan favourites such as rice & curry and freshly prepared seafood as well as some of the most popular Thai, French and Italian cuisine dishes.
Our dishes are prepared using only the finest produce and spices from our local suppliers, while seafood is caught daily by our very own fishermen of the Galle coast. Our Sri lankan breakfast includes a wide range of authentic dishes which make you happy.
The Halcyon has a nicely designed open kitchen adjecent to the charming open air restaurant.
Our exceptional event is teaching cookery for our clients. It can be an absolutely memorable experience for sure.
Cooking demonstrations (Guided bicycle tour to fruit, vegetable and fish markets to shop and return to the villa to cook and finally taste the delicious collaborative creations on a banana or lotus leaf, eaten traditional Sri Lankan style) Our chef is ready to cater your needs.
