The Halcyon is located approximately five kilometres from Galle's city centre. It is within easy reach of the UNESCO World Heritage Galle Fort and a 10 minute drive away from the glorious beaches of the south coast. The Halcyon's simple elegance invites you to enjoy its colonial, Dutch style architecture with its gabled roof top adorned with charming clay tiles. The irresistibly relaxing interior has an antique finish with white-washed wooden ceilings, complete with antique furniture and a cooling polished cement floor for your comfort.
The backyard at your fingertips is a lush, tropical tree-filled garden overlooking vibrant paddy fields where you are free to wander and discover the abundance of fauna and flora. Waiting to be discovered are; mango, papaya, banana, pineapple, star fruit, ceylon olive, jackfruit and passionfruit all at your disposal.
Marvel at our playful purple faced langur (black monkeys) swinging amongst the tree-tops, while spying the mongoose, porcupines, land and water monitor lizards, peacocks and our beautiful array of tropical birds being a common sight on the Halcyon premises.
This colonial villa provides the perfect setting as the most welcoming retreat which is luxurious, yet informal. The Halcyon is the ideal location for friends and family get-togethers, birthday parties, high tea or any special event that calls for a small gathering. The entire 4 bedroom house can be rented as a private villa or the rooms can be booked on an individual basis.

The Halcyon consists of four suite rooms at the property. Each room varies in size. The spacious rooms, decorated in a modern colonial style invite guests in to immaculately sparkling and comfortable rooms, making it easy to relax in this home away from home. The beautifully simply designed with antique furniture and all modern amenities.

Naren comes highly qualified with 15 years experience as a National Tourist Guide Lecturer with extensive knowledge of Sri Lanka's history and culture as well as current race relations topics. Naren is of course fluent in the local languages as well as English and French so take advantage of the Sri Lankan information and discussion evening that he offers during your stay.

The Halcyon’s scrumptious cuisine is a fusion of traditional Sri Lankan favourites such as rice & curry and freshly prepared seafood as well as some of the most popular Thai, French and Italian cuisine dishes.
Our dishes are prepared using only the finest produce and spices from our local suppliers, while seafood is caught daily by our very own fishermen of the Galle coast.
Our Sri lankan breakfast includes a wide range of authentic dishes which make you happy.
The Halcyon has a nicely designed open kitchen adjecent to the charming open air restaurant.
Our exceptional event is teaching cookery for our clients. It can be an absolutely memorable experience for sure.
Cooking demonstrations (Guided bicycle tour to fruit, vegetable and fish markets to shop and return to the villa to cook and finally taste the delicious collaborative creations on a banana or lotus leaf, eaten traditional Sri Lankan style)

Exceptional hospitality We had a great stay hosted by Naren and his team. From the moment we arrived we were extremely well looked after.We have no words to explain the hospitality.Also the BBQ night in this place was an amazing and exceptional experience for all of us. We had the family room which was a terrific size and had a great outside dining area overlooking nature. The rooms were exceptionally clean and also had lovely touches to make them feel warm and welcoming. A major benefit of this accommodation was having access to a tuk-tuk service whenever we needed it. This made moving around Galle so much easier and took all of the thinking out of it. A great host We booked Halcyon Villa online and it was a great choice and our 4 days holiday was just amazing. The beautiful Colonial style Villa is located 10 miniys ride from the famous Unawatuna beach, yet in very serene location sourounded by beautiful nature. Everyday we wake up and rush to our spacious balcony for the morning coffee to enjoy the green view of paddy field. Our lil baby Loved to see the monkeys roaming around the trees. The food was just amazing, the owner Naren arranged us a fantastic BBQ dinner and food is Very tasty. The owner Naren is very knowlageble and gave us very good recommendations. We will come back soon!

The hotel has a very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are spacious and have a large balcony. The beds are exquisite. An extensive breakfast is served. The owner is very knowledgeable and gives many good tips on sights in the area and also for the rest of our trip in Sri Lanka. Really great!

We had the honour of being the first to stay in this brand new guest house! The denco is beautiful, the place is clean and quiet. The 4 men who greeted us were lovely and kind! They prepared us delicious meals and despite a very little lack of assurance or some details to sort due to the novelty of the experience, all our requests were met. We recommend this place without hesitation!

What a wonderful place. On first arrival you feel maybe you are heading into the middle of nowhere but oh what a wonderful surprise when you arrive! the hotel is wonderful, such a peaceful and stunning location. In the morning you are likely to see monkeys swinging from the trees, lots of colourful birds and such a quiet location.

Great place and had authentic experience I was here with my family here and we have been taken care well by staff who were very friendly. Foods were really good and they arranged a romantic candle light dinner which was very special on the garden. Overall service is excellent. Great activities such as cycling ride done across agricultural areas and a mangrove boat ride have been organised for us by the team and it gave us wonderful time. Thank you so much and hope to come back again.
